FAQ
Why all aluminum?
All aluminum rings out in a very unique way. It almost has a natural chorus to it. For as many highs it adds, it adds as many lows and mids. It does what wood does but only better in my opinion.
Why do you have a half wood model now?
Until recently I really didnt like wood on guitars. I like the look, but the sound was always a bit lacking. A few buddies gave me the idea to isolate the wood from the aluminum neck, thus eliminating the wood from the sound and thats where the custom model came from. So you can basically get the all aluminum sound without the all aluminum design. I didnt want to rip off the previous design as they are fantastic, so when this idea came up, I gave it a shot and it does get a different sound so I went with it.
What is difference in anodizing and chroming?
-Anodizing is an industrial coating that actually etches down into the metal and then builds a small layer of aluminum oxide on the surface and then is dyed. Its nearly impossible to get a good shine from it as it eats the surface a bit, so it looks a bit dull. It does come in a variety of colors.
-Chroming is a plating that goes over the metal. generally it goes copper, nickel, then chrome. Aluminum does not like to be plated, eventually electrolisis will take place and the chrome will peel. Also of you bump it hard enough it will bubble and peel. When it peels it flakes into little razors, not a fun time. I'm not a big fan of chrome but it does look amazing while it lasts.
Are the frets removable?
Yes. If you need a fret job please send it back to me or to a shop who has experince in metal fretboards, like Rockhaus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
What if I scratch my guitar?
Polished aluminum - buff it out. For extreme scratches, you may need to wet sand it out. If you dont feel comfortable doing this, send it back to me and I would be happy to take care of it.
Anodized - Reanodize
Chrome - Chrome is very hard to scratch, but if you do manage to, its nearly impossible to buff out. Rechroming will be the only fix.
Can I have a radius fretboard?
Yes
Does it warp or bend in hot and cold weather?
One of the major advantages of the solid T6061 aluminum neck is it doesnt suffer so much from the neck warping that usually plagued past guitars. If you go from extreme temperature changes then yes, it will a bit, but on average its not affected. The basses have a hollow neck so they are a bit more prone to temp changes but the aluminum fretboard and all helps with this as well.
How do I clean it?
Aluminum finish - Clean it with mothers billet polish. T6061 is corrosive resistant, but will tarnish if left dirty.
Anodized - Clean with windex and a lint free terry cloth.
Chrome - Clean with windex and a lint free terry cloth the cleaner the better for all three.
Paint- turle wax
Why a metal fretboard?
Sound. You get a much better response from an all aluminum neck/fretboard.
What gauge strings can I go up to on my guitar?
The standards will take 12's and 13's no problem. The basses and baritones can take pretty much whatever you can throw at them.
Can I have other pickups put into my guitar?
Yes, let me know what you have in mind and ill see if I can track them down.
Will you modify a guitar I already own to accept an aluminum neck?
Yes, but I will need to see what im working with. Most guitars can be made to accept a neck, but some cannot.
Is the import duty included in the price?
No, most things that get shipped make it through untaxed, as far as Im aware. So the tax, if any , is your responsibility. I also can't declare a lesser value on the package.
Is my deposit refundable?
No.
How long do I have to decide on the guitar?
48 hours from delivery, unless it is custom ordered and then its non returnable.
